To Have and To Hold chapter: 2 (teaser)

The first chapter of To Have and To Hold had a huge response, which I'm so happy and excited about. I hope it lives up to what everyone is expecting. Here's a little teaser of the second chapter. I'll be posting this chapter on Friday the 15th. Thanks to everyone who is reading and sent such lovely words about the story in their reviews.

After a while I got up and decided to do the dishes Edward had left from his attempt at making breakfast this morning.  The burnt on eggs were hard to scrub out of his pans but for some reason scrubbing those pans made me happy. It made me feel like I had a purpose and a reason for being there.  I heard a lawn mower start up outside a little while later.  For some reason the smell of freshly cut grass smelled so good.  I wanted to go outside and just take it in.  I dried my wet hands on a towel and walked outside to sit on the front porch.  I watched and breathed in deeply while Edward mowed the lawn.
“Shawn, get back here!” a woman shouted while a little kid, who looked to be about four or five years old, ran across the yard in front of me.  “Shawn!”  She chased after him while he giggled and tried to hide from her.  He ran up on the porch and used me as a hiding spot.  To help this noticeably frazzled mother out, I grabbed him around the waist and held him still.  He squirmed and tried to get free from my arms but I did my best to hold him until his mother got to him.
“Let go!” he whined.
“Sorry, Buddy, I think your mom wants you,” I informed him.
The beautiful, blonde haired woman walked up to the porch with a relieved look on her face and grabbed the little boy by the wrist.  “What were you thinking?” she scolded.  “I’ve told you a hundred times not to run from me.”
He squirmed free from her grasp and ran to a man who was chatting with Edward in the front yard.  He wrapped his arms around the man’s leg and glared over at his mom.
“I’m so sorry if he bothered you.  He’s been in a rebellious stage lately.  I seriously don’t know what to do with him anymore,” she apologized.
“It’s completely okay.  I’m glad I could help you out by capturing him,” I giggled.
“I’m surprised he came up by you at all.  He’s usually very shy around strangers,” she pointed out.
I looked out at him again and saw Edward ruffle the boy’s hair and say something the little boy obviously thought was funny.
“That’s my husband, Emmett.  For some reason Shawn thinks he can get away with anything when daddy is around,” she said.  “I’m Rose McCarty.  We live next door.”
“Isabella Swan,” I introduced shaking her hand in greeting.
“You must be one of Edward’s girls.”

To Have And To Hold (new story teaser)

*unbeta'd so there may be some changes to the final product*
Rating: M
Pairing: Edward and Bella
Status: WIP
This will start posting I hope in July. My goal is to start posting my WIP stories on a schedule. We'll see if I can actually do it.

“You aren’t going back to your parents?” I asked.
“I can’t.  They won’t accept me.”
“You can’t know that.  They’re your parents.  I think they would be a lot more understanding than you think they would be.”
“Edward, you don’t know what they said to me when they found out where I was and what I was doing.  I’m so ashamed I can’t even talk about it,” she cried.  “How do I tell my unborn child what it is I did?”
“I can imagine you’re having a lot of regrets and fear right now, but you need someone to help you figure this out.  I can’t just leave you here on the side of the road in the middle of the night.”
“I’ll be fine,” she assured mustering up all the courage she could.  “I’ve been in worse predicaments, believe me.”
“I’m sure you have but that doesn’t mean you should.  Why don’t you come home with me tonight?” I offered.  “Tomorrow I can try to help you figure out what to do.”
“I don’t want to be a charity case,” she said with an angry tone.  “Someone will eventually pick me up and give me a ride somewhere.”
“It’s not charity, Bella.  I’m only trying to help because you’re practically family.  Right now you need to think about your unborn child and what’s best for him.  Now, if you want somewhere to stay for the night then get in the car, if not I’ll be forced to call the police and have them pick you up.”
“You wouldn’t,” she dared.
“I most definitely will.  It’s my job.”
She sighed contemplating her options.
“It’s really not a hard choice, Bella.  I warm house with a comfortable bed or a jail cell for the night,” I added.
“Fine,” she accepted.  I opened the passenger door for her and helped her in.  All she had with her was a small backpack which looked to be rather empty as is.  She really did have nothing.
I walked back around the car and got in to head back out on the highway.  She was rather quiet during the drive and after a while I noticed she’d fallen asleep.  She probably needed the sleep after everything she’d been through the last few days.
While I drove I wondered what exactly I was doing taking her home with me.  This was something strictly prohibited in my line of work.  However, she was like a sister and I couldn’t just leave her on the side of the road.  I had to help her.  It was only for one night.  Tomorrow I’d try to convince her that the best option was to go home to her parents.  And if she still refused, come Monday I’d do what I could to find her temporary housing and assistance.

Watch Her Fly (new story teaser)

This will start posting I hope in July. My goal is to to start posting my WIP stories on a schedule. We'll see if I can actually do it. This is a teaser from the first chapter.

“Back already?” he asked causing me to chuckle.
“Phil, it’s almost four in the afternoon,” I pointed out.
“It is?  Damn, I slept through the whole day,” he complained.
I chuckled lightly as I put the lifejackets back in their spot.
“Well, what are you boys up to now?  Anything fun going on tonight?” Phil asked.
“Unfortunately, we have to go out one more time,” I rolled my eyes as I mentioned it.  “Jasper promised his fucking girlfriend we’d take her cousin up today.”
“Oh go easy on the boy.  He’s a man in love who needs to please his woman.  If you had a woman you’d do that same thing.”
“I won’t ever have a woman so I’ve got nothing to worry about.”
“You know I used to think the same thing.  I didn’t need anyone.  I didn’t need love or affection.  I didn’t need someone to come home to every night.  All I needed was a good fifth of jack and an easy lay.  Now look at me?  I’m more pathetic now than I was then.  I can only get laid if I pay the girl.  I’m old and a drunk and all I got is this boat.  Don’t let love pass you by when it’s staring you straight in the face,” he ordered.
“How much have you had to drink today?” I asked with a raised eyebrow and a curved up lip.
“Too much, I’m sure.  But I’m serious, Edward.  Jasper is doing it right.  He’ll be the one who ends up happy while we’ll be wishing we had what he has.  Just remember that.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” I promised with an unenthused laugh.  “I’ll see you around, Phil.  And thanks for letting us use the lifejackets.”
I hopped back up on the dock and walked towards our boat where Alice and this cousin of hers were already getting in the boat.
I hopped in just as Jasper was starting the boat up again.
“There’s Edward,” Alice said pointing me out to her cousin.  I made a face behind her back towards Emmett who just smirked at me.
“Edward, I want to introduce you to my cousin, Bella,” Alice called. I turned around to suck it up and was stunned into submission when my eyes fell upon her.  I’d never been so blown away by a female before.  What the hell was wrong with me?
“Edward, this is Bella, my cousin from Ohio.  Bella, this is the idiot I was telling you about,” Alice rudely introduced.
Bella giggled bashfully and ducked her head.  “Hi. it’s nice to finally meet you,” she said in the softest, sweetest voice I’d ever heard.
“Yeah, you too,” I said in return trying not to look like a fool in front of her.

I rocked nervously back and forth as the thoughts of dying consumed my mind.
“Edward,” I cried.  He hummed in response, barely awake from the weakness overtaking him.  “What if no one’s looking for us?  What if there isn’t anyone left?  What if the whole town died from the earthquake?”
“That’s not possible.  Someone will find us,” he assured.
“But what if they don’t?  What if by the time they do it’s too late?  I don’t want to die here,” I cried.  “What if I never get to see my mom and dad again?”
“Bella, calm down,” he ordered.  “You can’t start freaking out now.”
“I can’t be down here anymore.  I need to get out,” I screeched, beginning to move around in the darkness.  I was starting to hyperventilate, and I didn’t care if everything came crashing down on me.  I was going to dig my way out if I had to.
“Bella, no,” Edward shouted grabbing my arms to stop me.
“I can’t stay here,” I shouted and pulled away from him.  As I began to try and push my way out a few little pieces of wood fell and there was a shift in the rubble.  Edward shouted at me to stop again, but I didn’t listen.  I screamed at the top of my lungs while he pulled me back.  In an instant, my screams were quieted by Edward’s lips against mine.  He held my face in his hands and kept his lips firmly planted against mine.  I was stunned into submission and calmed down from my outburst.
When his lips left mine, and he was sure I wasn’t going to scream anymore, his hands slid off of my cheeks and he sat back.  I stared over at him in disbelief.
“You kissed me?” I stated the obvious.
In the dim light from the flashlight I saw him shrug and stare down at the floor.  “I needed you to calm down before you killed us both.”
“You thought kissing me would calm me down?”

“It worked, didn’t it?” he pointed out.

“I brought you something?” I answered walking a little closer and placing the puppy on the ground in front of her.  “I know you already had your birthday but the puppies weren’t ready to leave their mamma until now.”
She stopped milking the cow and stared down at the puppy in front of her with a shocked expression.
“You’re giving me your puppy?” she asked.
“No,” I laughed.  “I bought you one of them.  My puppy is at home with my ma.”
She reached down and picked the puppy up to cradle in her arms.  I saw the slightest smile across her face.  “You bought me a puppy for my birthday?” she questioned.
I cleared my throat and dipped my head nervously.  “Yeah, well, I thought you might like to have one.  It was the only female in the bunch and Carlisle thought you would like this one.”
She bit her lip trying to fight the smile which was quickly creeping up on her face.  “You’ve never given me anything for my birthday before,” she pointed out.
I shrugged my shoulders and ran my hand through my hair nervously.  “Well I thought it was a good time to start, I guess.”
“Thank you, Edward.  She’s the best gift I’ve ever gotten.”
“You’re welcome,” I replied with another nervous chuckle.  I started to walk out of the barn but she called me back.
“Does she have a name?” she asked as soon as I walked back over to where she was.
“She’s yours.  You get to name her.”
She looked down at her new little puppy and patted her head a few times.  “I’m going to name her Daisy.”
“Daisy? I guess it’s a nice name.”
“What did you name yours?” she asked.
“Sam,” I replied.
“Sam? Just Sam?”
“What’s wrong with Sam?” I asked.
“Nothing it’s just a little plain.”
“It’s better than naming him after a flower,” I retorted defensively.
She huffed and glared up at me.  “There are other reasons why I want to name her Daisy other than just naming her after a flower.”
“Like what?” I asked.
“Never mind.”
“Fine.”  I turned to walk out but stopped one last time.  “You know, if you want I can go with you when you want to shoot or fish or whatever it is you want to do that you’re no longer allowed to do.”
“You would?” she asked excitedly.

“You don’t like flying, do you?” the man sitting next to me asked, breaking my concentration.
I opened one eye glaring over at him and shook my head hastily.  Before I even realized what he was doing he took my hand in his and pressed his thumb into a spot on my wrist.
“What are you doing?” I asked staring down at my hand in his with a confused expression.
“I’m trying to help you relax,” he answered.  “Believe me it works.”
“By squeezing my wrist?” I questioned.
“I’m not squeezing your wrist.  I’m pressing on a pressure point.  It’ll help you relax during takeoff.  Trust me.”
I was about to jerk my hand away from him but the plane suddenly sped up and prepared for takeoff.  I glued myself to my seat and shut my eyes as tightly as I could, preparing for the panic I always had to take over, but it didn’t.  Whatever this man sitting next to me was doing actually worked.  The plane ascended into the sky and leveled out.  I let out a sigh of relief and opened my eyes.  The man sitting next to me was still holding my wrist and watching me with a strange look on his face.  I quickly jerked my hand away from him and moved as close to the window as I could.  He chuckled lightly and gave me a crooked smile.
“A thank you would have been better than to make me feel like I’m the plague,” he complained.
“Thank you,” I said quietly.
“I told you it would work.”
“I guess it did work a little.  I didn’t go into hysterics this time.”
He laughed and looked at me with a questioning stare.  “You actually go into hysterics when you fly?”
“I have.  I don’t all the time.  It all depends on how rough the takeoff or the landing is.  This time wasn’t too bad.”
“Why do you fly if you don’t like it?”
“It’s kind of my job.  I have to go to New York today to meet with a very important person,” I explained.
“I see.  Well, I guess we have something in common.  I’m also flying to New York on business.  I’m not real happy about it being on New Year’s Eve, but I didn’t have much of a choice.”
“Me either.”
“I’m Edward, by the way,” he introduced holding out his hand towards me.
“Bella,” I greeted shaking his hand.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Bella.”
